Le ”Onward”

My pirate ship

I hoisted up
a silent flag
You didn’t see me
Couldn’t see me. Couldn’t
see the pips
my tongue
had wedged
between my teeth
With hand
on wheel
– a cracking pith
Emitted signals
to the seas
Mapped my
velvet
blackness wake
and caught
your guard
at lowest mast.
And just before
you thought it
free
I slammed
my steely guts (up)
hard upon
your stern.
Hard against
your hearty laugh
Neath orange sun
and yellow moon…
I charged
your cargoed freight
in deep.
In deeper seas
In deeper greens
And sunk the
finest whisky glass
Lashed (and left)
upon the rocks
And pulling back
My bow
held strong
Surprised myself
I saw
I knew…had
left you
sinking. Gaping
hole
I saw
I knew
your treasure’s bare
And at your
height I’d pushed
above
I choked, instead
in blackened
skies
and fell
to seas
upon their
dare. And
catching back
my stealthy breath
I ploughed
back in
My final blow!
And saved
your hull
with steel
and mast…
My engine
cut
My bow at
rest. Hand
still welded
at the wheel
My towered keel
now wounded steel
My towered keel…
Now wrecked
upon your deck.

My pirate ship
has left the quay
